Great hikes in the Colorado Springs Area

So, you’re looking for some great outdoor experiences while you are staying in Colorado Springs, are ya? Happy to help. Here’s are just a few of the best ways to find the perfect hike for you and your group, no matter what your skill level, age, and desire.

Always remember to wear sun protection, hydrate early and often, and know where you are going and how to get back. If you are traveling alone be sure someone knows where you are going and when you’ll return. But what am I, your mom? No, but she would be glad I am taking the time to say this. You’re welcome, moms.

Here are some great ways to find the perfect hike:

All Trails – Website and App that lets you search for hikes according to location, difficulty, and features.

Visitcos.com – a very finely curated list of some of the best.

Of the above hikes, Don’t underestimate Garden of the Gods. There’s a reason it’s so famous. Go early in the morning to beat the crowds and see the sunrise illuminate the red rocks. It’s unforgettable. Even though my family lives here we still hike in Garden of the Gods all the time. It’s wonderfully accessible for the young and elderly.

My family is especially fond of the Crags Trail as well, and Helen Hunt Falls in Cheyenne Canyon.

Mueller State Park is also in my opinion among the most underestimated local wonders, especially in the fall.

If you have kids, when the weather turns south the Focus on the Family visitor’s center is a great place for little ones to burn off some steam. Our kids loved crawling inside the aircraft that they have built into a Disney-like catacombs complete with secret passages.

Hopefully that will get you started! Let me know what your favorite trails are. I’d love to recommend the best, and if I gave any bad advice let me know that too!

Have fun out there!
